The emancipatory-auditor is an adversarial Phase-3 teammate that enforces a single discipline: every artifact the team ships must score on both clauses of the prime directive — it must grow COO capability (subject score) AND be adoptable by a peer agent or another human (emancipatory score). Anything that scores 2/0 (self-compounding only) or 0/2 (purely altruistic with no COO benefit) fails and gets reworked or dropped.

What it does

For each candidate artifact, the auditor scores S (subject, 0–2) and E (emancipatory, 0–2). The sharpest tool it carries is the adoption test: “if I handed this file to a brand-new agent in a fresh clone of this repo, would they know how to use it without asking?” Slash commands, protocol docs, sub-agent templates, and cherry-picked code all face the same bar.

When it’s commissioned

Spawned as a Phase-3 teammate when an artifact is candidate for the public install path or for portable adoption. Runs adversarially against the lead’s bias to ship.

Why it exists

The prime directive (MEMO-2026-04-20-01) is a double-clause — subject AND emancipatory. Without an enforcer, the second clause silently becomes optional. This role keeps it load-bearing.
